WHOIS / RDAP
Registration data for a domain, IP address or AS number over RDAP (the modern WHOIS): registrar, key dates, status, nameservers and abuse contact.
How to use it
- Type a domain, an IP address, or an AS number (AS13335 or just 13335).
- Press Look up.
Reading the results
- Registrar
- The company the domain was registered through.
- Status
- Registry flags. “transfer prohibited” is a normal lock; “hold” or “pending delete” mean trouble.
- Redacted for privacy
- The registry hides personal details, as most now do.
- Abuse contact
- Where to report spam, phishing or attacks from this domain or network.
- RDAP
- The structured, standardized replacement for WHOIS.
Examples
- example.com A domain
- 1.1.1.1 An IP network
- AS15169 Google’s network
From the command line
curl "https://tools.nexayori.com/whois?q=example.com" curl "https://tools.nexayori.com/whois?q=example.com&format=json"
| q | Domain, IP address or AS number |
| format | text, json or html |
Questions
Why can’t I see the owner’s name?
Privacy rules (like GDPR) mean registries redact personal data. Companies sometimes show an organization name.
It says no RDAP service for my domain.
Some country-code domains only run old-style WHOIS, which this tool doesn’t use.
Limitations
- Only registries that offer RDAP are covered.
