Help / Open port check
Open port check
Checks whether TCP ports on your own public IP address accept connections from the internet: the usual way to confirm a port forward or firewall rule works.
How to use it
- Type the ports to test, separated by commas (up to 20), or click the common ports under the box. Ranges like 8000-8010 work.
- Press Check. Each port is tried from Cloudflare’s network with a 3-second timeout.
Reading the results
- Open
- Something answered the connection: the port is reachable from the internet.
- Closed
- The connection was refused. Nothing is listening, or a device rejected it.
- No response
- Usually a firewall silently dropping the attempt. Treat it as not reachable.
- Can’t test
- Cloudflare blocks outbound connections on this port (25).
Examples
From the command line
curl "https://tools.nexayori.com/ports?q=22%2C80%2C443" curl "https://tools.nexayori.com/ports?q=22%2C80%2C443&format=json"
| q | Ports, comma-separated, ranges allowed (max 20) |
| format | text, json or html |
Questions
Can I check someone else’s IP?
No. The tool only ever tests the address you’re connecting from. There’s no way to give it another target, so it can’t be used to scan anyone.
It says open but my app still doesn’t work?
Open only means something accepted a TCP connection. The service behind it may still need the right protocol, login or TLS.
Why can’t I test WireGuard or game servers?
They use UDP, which can’t be tested this way. Only TCP is supported.
Limitations
- TCP only.
- On IPv4 it tests your router’s public address; on IPv6 it tests the device you’re using directly.
- Port 25 can’t be tested.
